And so it was that Miriam finally embraced her internet addiction and created both a Tumblr and a Twitter account.

For the following reasons:

• I have become hugely fascinated by the evolving nature of communication, and though I have harboured distain toward Twitter since it first launched, it has definitely become a major force for communication change across the world. So I really ought to learn firsthand how it works.
• So many of the jobs I'm applying for are looking for a person with social media savvy. And while I've got an acceptable understanding of Facebook and content-sharing sites, I have absolutely no experience with Twitter or Tumblr.
• I read a lot of fascinating stuff nearly every day and it would be great to have somewhere to bookmark it, other than Facebook where most people probably regard my links as feed spam.
• I am a passive-aggressive attention whore. I would really appreciate if you followed my new accounts, thanks.
